Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a discussion session, which dealt with bilateral relations and ways to support and develop them, and developments in the situation in Sudan in light of the crisis it is experiencing due to the rebellion of the terrorist Rapid Support militia.
The discussion session also touched on the situation in the Horn of Africa, and the two presidents exchanged views on the overall developments in the region.
The discussions reviewed the repercussions of the crisis that Sudan is witnessing as a result of the repercussions of the rebellion of the terrorist Rapid Support militia and its widespread grave violations against citizens, the systematic destruction of the Sudanese state, and the sabotage and destruction of the country’s infrastructure.
The President of the Sovereign Council briefed the Ethiopian Prime Minister on the efforts made by the Sudanese government to cease fire, end the war and bring peace to Sudan, reiterating the government’s cooperation with all initiatives in order to find solutions to this crisis that Sudan is going through.
Pointing to the initiatives of the African Union, IGAD, and the Saudi-American initiative, which sponsors the Jeddah Platform.
Al-Burhan referred to the eternal relations between Sudan and Ethiopia, stressing that the two peoples are linked by a common destiny, expressing his hope to push and strengthen the distinguished cooperation relations between the two countries to wider prospects.
For his part, the Ethiopian Prime Minister welcomed the visit of the President of the Sovereign Council, pointing out that it “comes within the framework of strengthening and developing the process of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.”
Abiy Ahmed stressed his country’s keenness to maintain security and stability in Sudan, emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts, support and integration of the initiatives proposed to resolve the Sudanese crisis and end the war to ensure the stability and security of Sudan and the region.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister affirmed his country’s readiness to support everything that would support peace and stability in Sudan, pointing to the exceptional relations between Ethiopia and Sudan, as well as the common destiny of the peoples of the two countries.
