Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq Ali, the Designated Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Kabrabe James, Minister of State for Regional Affairs at the Rwandan Foreign Ministry, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement currently being held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

The meeting discussed a number of bilateral and regional issues of common interest.
The Minister praised the historical relations that unite the two friendly countries, and His Excellency provided the Rwandan Minister with an extensive explanation of the reality of the current situation in the country, focusing on the attempt of the Rapid Support Militia to seize power through force in mid-April 2023.
He mentioned the violations currently being carried out by the rebel forces in a number of different Sudanese cities, and spoke about the Jeddah platform and the commitments that have not been implemented by the militia. He also explained the wrong procedural steps taken by IGAD by inviting the militia leader to the summit conference, noting that the President of the Sovereignty Council had previously expressed his approval to meet with the militia leader in Djibouti on December 28, 2023, but the IGAD Presidency postponed the meeting for unconvincing reasons.
For his part, the Rwandan minister expressed his regret for the events taking place in Sudan, stressing that his country will spare no effort in achieving stability in Sudan; he reported that Rwanda received the militia leader to listen to his point of view, and then advised him of the necessity of moving towards peace.
