The Vice President of the Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar Air, affirmed the government’s keenness to end the current war according to the road map that it presented earlier, which is based on four stages that include: the stage of separating forces, the humanitarian operation, the stage of addressing the issue of war by merging (the Rapid Support Forces and creating one army), and the stage of the political process that It is based on agreeing on the constitution and how Sudan is governed.

His Excellency said, during his addressing the opening session of the signatory parties to the Juba Peace Agreement on October 20, 2020 in the city of Juba, capital of the Republic of South Sudan, in the presence of the southern mediation, the parties to the agreement, and regional organizations represented by the African Union, IGAD, and international organizations represented by the United Nations – UNITAM. The current initiatives proposed to address the war are characterized by a multiplicity of platforms and that they are contradictory, indicating the presence of four platforms that he described them as inconsistent and often competing with each other due to their differing agendas and goals! Pointing out that what is required in this regard is to take into account the economic situation and the executive situation in the country, in addition to the citizen’s feeling regarding the violations committed by the Rapid Support Militia through its serious aggression and violation of international humanitarian law, describing its current war as a settlement war which is taking place with the participation of forces from outside Sudan and implements cross-border agendas, including the ambitions of some countries. Explaining that the militia defeated its claims to restore democracy and fight the 1956 state since the beginning of the war when it began to practice violations and assaults on citizens through robbery, plunder and rape, to which the people and the world witnessed.

Agar added that the Forces of Freedom and Change were strengthened in their efforts with the international community by the initiative they presented based on the Framework Agreement, which produced a bad initiative because it contained the contradictions and ambitions of this group and some countries, which led to the deepening of the internal contradictions that already existed between the political and civil groups that led to the current armed conflict.

The Vice President of the Sovereignty Council saluted the steadfastness and patience of the Sudanese people, and also saluted the attendance of the introductory session to evaluate the Juba Peace Agreement, noting the importance for the signatories of the Agreement, in addition to evaluating the updated agreement matrix in 2023, to develop the most effective ways to stop the current war and address the challenges of implementing the Agreement that resulted about it.

The Vice President of the Sovereignty Council pointed out the current threat of war on the region, especially the Horn of Africa, neighboring countries, and the countries bordering the Red Sea.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council called for the necessity of national unity on crucial issues and to rally around the army and support it because it represents the safety for Sudan’s cohesion and the unity of its territory.
