Dr. Jibril meets the Russian President’s special envoy to the Middle East and Africa

Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, met in Moscow on Monday, January 15, 2024, with Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to stimulate joint cooperation between Sudan and Russia.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning informed the Russian President’s special envoy to the Middle East and Africa of the developments in the situation in Sudan, especially the war taking place there as a result of the Rapid Support Rebellion on the fifteenth of last April, and the effects of the war on the overall life in Sudan, which resulted in the deterioration of the Sudanese economy after the deliberate destruction for infrastructure, stopping the cycle of production, and displacing citizens from states affected by the war and the terrible violations committed against them by militias.
The meeting also touched on the need to activate joint committees between the two countries and develop plans to advance economic relations between them to higher levels.
Dr. Gabriel praised the Russian role in many economic fields in Sudan through the work of Russian companies in the country, which have qualitative experience in the mining, oil and gas sectors, the Minister called for more Russian investments in these fields, while emphasizing the removal of all obstacles to these investments.
For its part, the Russian side emphasized the strategy of the relationship with Sudan and its keenness on Sudan’s stability and territorial integrity, also he stressed the necessity of stopping the war in Sudan and striving to reach a lasting peace that guarantees permanent security and stability in Sudan, he called for the activation of joint committees between the Sudanese and Russian governments, which would It enhances a strategic partnership that allows for the continuation of Russian-Sudanese cooperation to achieve mutual benefits between the two countries. The meeting was attended by a staff from the Sudanese embassy in Moscow, led by Mr. Mohamed Al-Ghazali Al-Tijani, Ambassador, along with the visiting delegation.
