The Designated Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, affirmed in a press statement following a follow-up meeting and discussion of the proposal to rehabilitate and operate the main hospitals and the specialized centers in the states during the emergency period, the necessity of the Federal Ministry of Health’s governance over health in the various states of Sudan during the situation of emergency, pointing to the hold his first meeting yesterday, Sunday, in his office in quarantine, and some of the attendees participated via internet, regarding following up and discussing a proposal to rehabilitate and operate hospitals and specialized centers in the states during the emergency period.

The Minister stressed the need to develop hospitals in the states, ensuring that health is a national matter, so coordination must be strengthened so that the citizen receives specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services in an effort to localize services, he added that one of the most important outcomes is ensuring the allocation of financial resources to the main hospitals in the states for rehabilitation, development, and training, and to upgrade and improve services, and to provide them with support and aid in their management, he also emphasized the health mandate.

The Minister pointed out that there are many bodies related to the development and provision of medical services, including Health Insurance, in addition to coordination with the states, noting the support of the Federal Ministry of Health for hospitals and the emergency department, focusing on them, and equipping laboratories and radiology equipment.

The Minister pointed out the importance of developing a comprehensive vision with partial implementation, in addition to developing an implementation plan starting from the first of November, which includes several axes, including the axis of devices and equipment, and operation, calling for setting a vision for operating hospitals in coordination with partners, explaining that the project targets the main hospital in each state, with some specificity for children’s, gynecology and obstetrics hospitals, in addition to the hospitals of the localities, to reduce the burden on the main hospitals, he emphasized work to expand services in the states, noting that the project targets 18 states, the Minister directed that an evaluation of the hospitals be prepared and that staff be retained in the states within the project, noting the need for coordination with Health Insurance.

It is worth noting that the meeting was attended by the Departments of Therapeutic Medicine, Financial and Administrative Affairs, and the National Agency for Emergency Care and Ambulance.
