Port Sudan: The Official Spokesman’s Platform

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly worded statement yesterday, Thursday, about Britain, other Western countries and Non-Governmental Organizations pushing the Human Rights Council to establish a Fact-Finding Committee in Sudan.
Here is the text of the statement:
Republic of Sudan
press release
Since last August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been closely following the political and media campaign led by Britain, other Western countries and Non-Governmental Organizations to push the Human Rights Council to establish a Fact-Finding Committee in Sudan.
The countries sponsoring the draft resolution ignored Sudan’s current priorities of ending the rebellion, ceasing fire, protecting civilians, and accelerating the delivery of emergency humanitarian aid, they also ignored the atrocities and grave violations committed by the terrorist rebel Rapid Support Militias against the Sudanese people.
It should be noted that the Government of Sudan has given the issue of accountability and non-impunity the necessary attention by forming the National Committee headed by His Excellency the Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan to investigate and dedicate war crimes, violations and practices committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Militias and any other armed groups, the sponsors of the resolution also ignored Sudan’s close cooperation with the multiple human rights mechanisms that monitor the human rights situation in Sudan.
The division of the Human Rights Council over the resolution indicates an attempt to harness the Council to serve the goals of certain countries, as it did not receive the support of any of the Arab, African, or Islamic countries, which confirms the weakness of the resolution and its hijacking of the interests of those countries.
While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers this biased resolution that equates the national army with a terrorist rebel militia, it holds the sponsors of the resolution fully responsible for the negative consequences that may result from this decision.
