of Foreign Affairs reviewed the Press Release of the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations on Sexual Violence during Conflict dated July 24 July 2024, following her visit to the Sudanese refugee camps in Chad.
The testimonies communicated by the senior UN Official therein corroborate findings of field surveys carried out by human rights organizations and international experts that the Janjaweed militia and its allies continue to commit rape, sexual violence, trafficking in women for sexual exploitation and extorting families of kidnapped women to obtain financial ransoms.
The aforementioned crimes represent one of the worst practices of the known terrorist groups, which invariably target women, vulnerable groups, and civilians in general. The international community therefore has to treat the Militia the same way it treats terrorist groups and transnational organized crime syndicates.
Issued on Wednesday 31 July 2024

[11,42

post-18180","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-11","category-42
["GET
